ADELE...

You may have caught her performance on SNL this weekend.

I don't usually go in for singer/songwriters much (especially of the Soul/R&B/Pop variety), but this chick is out of this world. I don't know if I have ever heard a voice so flawless. Nor so complex. At least not recently.

Maybe Whitney Houston? 80's Whitney. Before all the bullshit. Etta James ( Read more... )

Adele's cd is amazing. I've been listening to it all day. It's just fantastic. I don't know how else to say it. Put it this way, she is coming to Seattle at the end of January. Tickets go on pre-sale tomorrow morning at 10am. I'm seeing that fucking show.

I've been downloading some one-hitters lately. Just whatever grabs my attention. I picked up a song called "Dawn of the Dead" by Does It Offend You, Yeah?. It's a great 80's sounding song by a band from England. I didn't go in depth into their album. It's very synth-heavy. You may dig it. You should definitely get that song though. It's great.

I got into a straight-up rock mood for a while and was listening to The Raconteurs, The Black Crowes, The White Stripes, but that has now passed. I've been just listening to my iPod's "Top Rated" list and rocking out to some old and new shizz.

Who knows... Maybe I'll be in a soul flow for awhile now. Christmas music time is coming up too.

You?

hah- thought you used to hate the Raconteurs and White Stripes!

will check out your other recommendations. i've been feeling a general malaise towards my collection lately. i've simply over-listened to everything that's good. most recently i've been into Metric, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Cursive, Of Montreal, Built to Spill. Metric is my greatest discovery of 2008, although their goodness was so great that I wore myself out on them.

I run hot and cold when it comes to Jack White. It's a fluid situation with him and me.

I do that too, especially when I find only one band that impresses me in a search for music. I'll play it to death cause it's the only new thing I have, and it wears out quickly sometimes. I just break it off with those tunes for a few months and my interest usually comes back.
