RIP Bettie Page

I'm sad to hear that Bettie Page died. Just read an article about her in which I learned that she refused to let herself be photgraphed in her old age because she "felt like others do" about aging celebrities and wanted people to remember her as she once was. While I understand that on one hand, I feel it is grossly unfair on the other.

I just assume everyone is dead unless I'm told otherwise. It keeps my social engagement calendar manageable.

I found a rare picture of her in her old age at one point and was sort of regretful that I had. Not that she wasn't still beautiful, but that she looked very understated and ordinary. I guess that wouldn't bother me but the born-again stuff in conjunction with that made me kind of sad. I mean, if you were Bettie Page, wouldn't you want to fucking own it?

Ack, I'd hate to see Bettie Page in a polyester pant suit or someting equally dreadful. Yes, she should have owned it. I hope she wasn't ashamed of her past.
