I actually kinda like the original brown paper! :)
Then again, our rented house has all PLAIN WHITE walls with white trim and white tile floors. Looking around its like living in a hospital! I'd be up for almost anything different.
We asked for plain, but the new wallpaper we've picked is a beige/off-white color with some accent, so it'll look good with white trim. Both of us also have a lot of wall hangings and pictures and stuff which would look terrible with the brown or the blue.
The problem with busy wallpapers like those is that they make any room they're put in feel SO much smaller! The brown looked like it was from the 70s and would go right at home with puke-green shag carpet; the blue I just don't know.
I don't mind dark colors, but I hate busy prints, and for a house where it covers the majority of wall surfaces, including for some reason, doors? Yeah, I'd like plain thanks. lol!
I have a lot of things on my walls to try to make up for the drab hospital-feel. We've also been talking about getting rugs for the living room and the two bedrooms to spruce up the floors a little too.
That original brown was nice, but I couldn't imagine it being all over EVERYTHING. Maybe an accent wall or one room or something, but not in extra-large doses!
It was really all over everything. I don't know what was up with the doors, lol, but they seriously put wallpaper over EVERYTHING here! Even the ceilings! Which, btw, don't happen to match anything at all lol
