Wow. I haven't posted in for. ev. er. OMG. So! Life, how's life treating you guys? Mine's going pretty good. Just got back from an Awesome Christmas Vacation in which I went home to Texas to spend time with my family. The BF came too, and didn't run away screaming which I see as a good sign ( Read more... )

Actually, if the rider has a good balance of personal awareness, machine awareness, and situational awareness, the bike should be fairly safe. (This is an argument I've ALSO had with the boyfriend many many times, but he's starting to win me over.) Most people get stuck at too much of one or the other, and that's when you get accidents. Also there is trouble when the proper protective gear is not worn. Boots that cover your ankles, armored jacket, and helmet are the absolute minimum, I have been told.

Oh, I have no doubt my bf is a competent rider. My problem is with other people. He has almost gotten hit twice because the roads are so narrow, if he hadn't been looking and paying attention, the drivers would have barreled right into him because they weren't staying to their side of the road. We also have a road right close to our house where in a car we have almost been hit twice as well because nobody pays any freaking attention to the stop sign there. If it were just him on the bike? No problem. It is all the idiots out there who are terrible drivers I'm worried about.

Recently there was a newscast on a motorcyclist who died because ahead of him another motorcyclist didn't tie on is briefcase well enough, so it flew off, and the other guy didn't have even a chance to swerve; he hit it, the bike and he went flying, and he died. Because of some idiot's briefcase. A briefcase. Nobody can see that coming, no matter how competent ( ... )

I hear ya on the cold apartments. Mine sounds like yours in structure, but was up in Aomori. Our water in cups froze while in the apartment overnight. >.< Not humane! XD

I can't believe it's been 3 years already! Time flies so fast, omg.

Also.... do you have paypal? I do have a friend in Japan I bug to buy me stuff, but he's absolute @*#& at sending it once he's bought it. For example, he's had books ordered from amazon.co.jp for A YEAR and still hasn't sent them to me, in exchange for me sending him some soup, 2 dvds/blu-rays, and some other stuff. Anyway, if you're up for it, I have paypal and am willing to pay a % for your trouble (or send you stuff from Canada) for copies of Kateigaho Magazine (in English). It's only published 2x a year, and I have the 2011 editions. And used Kimono-Hime, if one can find them (Yay for stores like Book Off). If you say no, that's cool too. Can't hurt to ask!

Hey, I wouldn't mind, if you need stuff. A word on Kimono-Hime, though, you might want to find someone who doesn't care about kimono for that, because if I ever did see them used I'd snatch them up for myself! As it is, I check every book-off for kimono mags and buy any cheap ones I don't have. So I make no guarantees for those!

I could use some specific food items in exchange... two products in particular I always lust for: Brianna's French Vinaigrette (http://www.briannassaladdressing.com/flavors/french-vinaigrette.html) and Corn Chex cereal. If you have those two in Canada we have a deal!

VERY late reply...but we do have Brianna's in the grocery store here! Not sure about Corn Chex - it sounds familiar, but I don't know if it's sold in Canada.

Shall we arrange an exchange?

OOOOMG there you are!!!! It's been FOREVER! This is yuukichan84, BTW, I changed my username over the summer. :P

Glad you hear you're doing well and that you got to come back to Texas for vacation! I know what you mean about Austin, never lived there but a lot of my friends do so I go play there often. :)

Good luck with the motorcycle, the car, and winning the lottery! ;) I will be returning to Japan in March for an indefinite period of time, so maybe we can meet up someday!
