Honeymoon bookings and decorating

It's ages since I posted; far too busy actually living to spend time reporting upon it. I'd better use some cut thingies to protect the bored from my life.

Wedding plans are advancing, but slowly. I have just spent an entire weekend staring at holiday brochures, agents websites and review pages trying to sort out a Honeymoon. We toyed with the idea of doing a Nile Cruise, but the fatal words "40 to 45 degrees Centigrade" have been mentioned in some reviews for September, and we balked. ellistar has the fair skin of a redhead and would quite like to hang on to some of it. After an inordinate amount of research, we settled on a 5* all inclusive resort hotel in Turkey. This is the kind of place where you never actually leave the grounds and see any of the host country. It has total, over-the-top comfort stamped all over it. This is not at all what we would normally go for, but if we are going to mong out for a week at any time in our life, then we are agreed that it should be our honeymoon. God only knows how/when we intend to actually pay for it, but we really want it so what the hell. As we have been living together for approaching 8 years and have every household accessory imaginable, we are rather hoping that some of our guests will give us little envelopes of folding stuff in lieu of pressies, which would help a lot. In the meantime a zero percent credit card has been applied for.

Invites are the next hurdle to be overcome. For those of you I know well enough to be expecting an invite; the wedding is on the 17th September in Stoke-on Trent. The invites will be sent out eventually, but don't hold your breath.

I have remembered why ellistar doesn't decorate very often. It's because he's a total maniac, who was taught by his father at a very young age not to cut corners on any aspect of DIY. Therefore decorating is made hideous for him by an excess of filling, sanding, scoring etc. The hoped for finish time of one week came and went without fanfare last week. Grim patience has set in, and by my personal reckoning is likely to be in residence until the end of next week at the earliest.
