See, this is why I avoid the BCBB other than for sneak peaks and occasional bonding over insane attempts to buy very limited dolls. It's just...yeah.
I'm an old school collector AND a vintage collector. I get the mindset in terms of velcro kind of reeking of cheap dolls for 4 year olds normally, but I trust Robert didn't do it just to be cheap, and to be all about the fit of the jacket. I'm sure the velcro does lie flatter than any snaps could.
People need to chill out. Oh wait, this is the internet and a fandom (any fandom!)...never gonna happen.
Hilariously, before Robert showed up on the scene to explain why, I'd already pointed out to folks that velcro was sometimes the best choice in terms of design for ensuring the fit of tightly fitted clothes that need to be layered under a jacket.
And yet the stubborn knee-jerk rejection of ANY type of velcro was ingrained. it's got to be learned behaviour. Because I can't figure out how so many people got so vehement so quickly, without a single logical explanation as to WHY they hate it.
The folks who said they want to redress the doll and velcro can snag on hair and fabrics? I get them, tho I pointed out that the ability to redress the doll is not a part of the designer's process when they create the doll and fashion.
Nostalgia I can get.
The "This is a HIGH END collector doll and I paid $85 dollars for it and HOW DARE THEY USE CHEAP MATERIALS TO CUT COSTS" even after Robert Best showed up to explain the aesthetics of his choice just out and out baffles me.
