What makes you happy?

Sep 11, 2009 21:07

LIke anybody else, I have my insecurities and doubts, but 99% of the time, I feel okay.

Unfortunately, tonight I'm having one of those moments - those times when that 1% of negative stinkin' thinkin' consumes me.

So, tell me folks - what makes you happy?  What perks you up - what brings a smile to your face on your dark days?

Hmm...

Santa Claus, smiling children. Kittens, other cute small animals. Grass, wind.

These are a few of the things.

Awww... that is so sweet. I love kittens and other cute animals (as long as I don't have to pick up after them :D ). Grass, wind - that sounds wonderful. Maybe that's what I should do, go lie down on a grassy area with the breeze blowing. That'll blow away the blues. ^_^ Thanks.

I have been trying to answer this question about my own life for a long time. I had originally thought I knew, but now I'm not so sure. I think I'm the kind of person that 309283049238 good things can happen to, but it can take one really horrible thing to ruin all the good things, which I'm trying to stop doing.

What I *do* know is that painting something for myself or something for a friend REALLY REALLY curbs my raging anxiety. So does my dog, drinking coffee, snuggling, and drinking coffee while snuggling my dog. <3

Wasn't there a saying that it takes 10 positive comments to counteract the effect of one negative comment? Something like that, anyway. Yeah, I feel you on that - most of the time, I try to keep busy so I don't dwell on that "one bad thought," but I think I'm just run down/ hormonal right now. *shrugs*

I think I'll drink some coffee - the caffeine should help get my dragging arse in gear. Painting sounds like fun, but I'm so out of practice that any sort of art project would only add to the anxiety. D: But I think I'll browse through your gallery. I like your art. Thank you! *hugs*

The concerto for trumpet by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.

I didn't recognize the name Johann Nepomuk Hummel. So, I looked it up on YouTube and found a clip of the 1st movement. Very beautiful and uplifting. You know some of the most interesting classical musical things! My taste in classical music is rather limited: the usual Beethoven, Chopin and occasional Mozart. Thank you for your recommendation, I enjoyed it very much.

thanks! the real sunshine music is the third movement, the rondo.

Well, I don't know much about other musical than classical music, however...

Thank you for the link! You know, this sounds so familiar... I think I've heard it before. This is probably a very well-known piece. And it is sunshiny and happy!
