I am now officially "QUALIFIED" to be a state child welfare caseworker.

How did I get here? How did this become my life?

1) You got a social science degree from a kick-ass liberal arts college.

2) You decided to bypass the crappy retail and/or waitressing job that many of us with social science degrees from said kick-ass liberal arts college did for a few years after graduating, and instead went directly to do something with a salary, benefits, and a meaningful positive impact on people's lives.

But if want, you COULD just go get that crap job most of us had. It's out there waiting for you. Minimum wage, long hours on your feet, no respect, stinky uniforms...

...weekend hours, no insurance for the first six months, getting sneered at by supercilious art majors from Reed...
