When we were moving in last summer, our neighbour was trimming his hedge. Only he wasn't, because he'd trimmed through the cable on his hedge trimmer and had gone out to buy himself a new one. He gave me the old one, saying he was very happy with the new one, and if I wanted to mend the old one I could keep it (otherwise I could throw it out,

I nicked the cable on a hedge trimmer once, it closed up so neatly I had the whole thing to bits before I realised it was just a break in the cable. How we laughed.
I also removed a rowan tree once. The roots went an awfully long way.
