Summary: Today was a fairytale. Yuto and Suzuka go somewhere unexpected on their date.

Summer, Suzuka decides, is her favourite season.
The leaves rustle overhead, while brown withered ones crunch under her knee-high boots, all against a backdrop of a beautiful evening sky.
A voice calls her name, and she looks up.
“Suzuka-chan~”
Yuto stands under a sakura tree, hands jammed into his parka pockets.
“Did I keep you waiting?” asks Suzuka.
He shakes his head, and fishes out a hand to hold hers.
“I just got here early,” he says, smiling.
Her heart melts a little, and she beams back, taking his hand.
“Where are we going, anyway?”
He winks at her, lifting his free hand to his lips in a Ssh gesture.
“Secret~”
She pouts, and he laughs, picking a stray leaf out of her hair.
A gentle breeze blows across her face, and her nose twitches.
“You can open your eyes now,” she hears Yuto say.
Slowly, she blinks open one eye, and then the other. What meets her eyes is the downward slope of a grassy hill, illuminated bright orange by the setting sun.
Suzuka opens her mouth, then closes it again, unable to say anything.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” chuckles Yuto.
“Yes,” she breathes, squeezing his hand in hers.
"I like coming here," he tells her. "You get one of the best views of the sunset from this hill."
They stand in silence for a while, two lengthening silhouettes merging together in the fading daylight.
Finally, Yuto fumbles in his pocket with his free hand, fishing out a neatly-wrapped paper package.
“Happy birthday,” he says shyly.
Suzuka blinks down at the proffered package, startled.
“It’s quite simple,” Yuto babbles nervously. “I saw it in the store and I immediately thought of you, but I don’t know if you’ll like it…”
He trails off as she slips her hand out of his, and opens the package carefully. A delicate chain slips out, with a pendant shaped like a single rose attached to it.
“I know you like ikebana, so…”
Suzuka smiles, fastening the necklace on immediately.
“I love it,” she tells Yuto, and his face immediately melts into one of relieved joy.
“I’m glad,” he replies.
Her hand slips into his again, fingers entangled casually.
“I love you,” Yuto says after another long pause.
She knows he does, but nevertheless the words make her toes tingle and her cheeks grow warm.
“I know that, stupid,” she tells him, and he smiles.
“Not just now,” Yuto clarifies. “Forever. I’ll love you forever.”
Her heart speeds up just a little, and she snuggles into him as he wraps a protective arm around her shoulders.
“Forever sounds nice,” she says after a while.
Yuto laughs again.
“It does, doesn’t it?”
