~waves cane~ Has anyone seen my memory?

Feb 09, 2010 13:46

I forgot to do the hgss_digest last night. WTF? I've forgotten it on days when I was filling in for someone else, but I rarely forget it on my assigned Monday. ~sighs~ I didn't even give it a second thought until this morning. Clearly, my memory has deserted me. If you see it around anywhere, please stuff it into a box and send it back to me. I would ( Read more... )

*claps* bravo, my dear. how hard is it to follow TOS? i'm not sure if twilight is on aff.net, but that's what sites *like* aff.net are for. christ, just follow the rules, people.

so basically, what you're saying is that ff.net won't be as sparkly anymore? sad day :-P

~snicker~ Well, I'm not holding my breath that's going to happen. ;)

trying to get ANY group of fandom people to do something at the same time is ridiculous. no one ship can agree on everything, let alone EVERYBODY.

and seriously, this same kerfuffle happened when ff.net stopped hosting MA fic of any kind. all the HP ppl got pissed and threatened to leave. and yet it's the largest category there. go figure.

I know! You can't get people to agree on what warnings to post on their stories, so how they think they're going to get an entire fandom to stop posting at fanfiction.net is beyond me.

Reviews trumps outrage every single time. ;P

*snicker* I can see getting upset at one's story being yanked, but... them's the breaks, kid. Although I'm a sure a site boycott will make them tremble in their boots!

I want to see them try to organize it. That should be particularly hilarious. ~grin~

I can see it now... Team Edward thinks we should start an angry online petition, but Team Jacob believes that a massive flood of negative blog postings will be more effective in bringing FFnet to its knees. FANGIRL WAR!

And I'd have to agree with the above comments... Only the most deluded Twilight fans will actually believe their possible (if unlikely) absence on FFnet is anything but a bonus. ;P

LOL - It takes very little to spark a Fangirl War in that fandom, so that should do it. ;P

I should be nicer, I suppose, since it's clear that so many of them are very, very young, and this is likely the first time that anyone has ever told them no about anything. Still, it's amazing to see the sheer amount of self-righteous indignation percolating on some of the forums. ~grin~

They are, indeed. But they never melt. That's a design flaw right there. ;)

Oh lord, is that why I have 2 feet of snow in my front yard? ~wails in despair of ever seeing spring~

I'm guessing ff.net is truly hoping folks make good on their offer.

~howls with laughter~ Oh, that's brilliant! And now we know what's caused all that snow!

I'm guessing ff.net is truly hoping folks make good on their offer.

I expect they have their fingers crossed. ;)

*is amused* I'm almost tempted to go over to the Pit and check out the damage.

The no-MA rule at ff.net is a funny one. I know of at least 3 NC-17 stories (one actually borders in NC-21), and they've been around since forever. One was even reposted after the Big MA Wipe. I check those every couple months to see if they've been reported - and every time there are a couple dozen extra reviews.

So, yeah, I'm amused. :D

Heh. I suspect there will be no damage whatsoever. I can't actually see anyone going through with it. At best, it's a lot of sound and fury.

Oh, geez, there are tons of stories there that violate the TOS. ~nods~ I probably have a couple that skirt the line. If they get snatched, they get snatched. It's not my site, so I don't have any room to complain about it.

I keep forgetting to update my ff.net account, and I probably should delete the oldest stuff and run away with the reviews - but I'm fond of my old stuff.

Anyway.

I believe it's a matter of having someone willing to report a story. Most fandom'ers don't care about a couple (dozens) fics that slip under the TOS, but if you've got someone checking your account closely, then you're done for. Sometimes you don't even need to actually post a story that violates the rules - I've seen fics get tossed just because they were reported.

I was actually talking about the ff.net communities. They must be buzzing. But nah, I've got a list of To Write stuff as long as my arm - and I don't even dare to post the Valentine's Request Time yet!
