Taiwan hadn't been expecting today to be anything but normal. Just another day out on the streets (with a parasol, because she hated putting sunblock on!), going wherever caught her fancy. It still felt a little strange, being home, though it had technically been some time since she was last in Splendor.
She'd made so many friends and acquaintances, people she never would have gotten to meet if she hadn't suddenly appeared in that strange, beautiful city. And then to get a strange message from someone she really missed, that she'd half thought was never going to appear...well. If she rushed just a little bit (and completely forgot to bring the aforementioned parasol in her hurry. Really, it was a wonder she didn't forget her purse as well) as she threaded through the streets she knew so well, no one was going to see her, right?
It was easy to lose one's thoughts in crowds of people running past. Several times Leoben had to shake his head and refocus before he lost himself entirely in the patterns and the people. It was easy to do.
The flash of a parasol hurrying through the crowd caught his attention, though it was only for a moment as the person carrying it was clearly in a hurry. Still, Leoben got the distinct feeling that the one he was waiting for had just run right past him. Leaving some money on the table (for he'd ordered a drink while waiting), he ran after he, hoping to catch Taiwan before it was too late.
He'd said he was going to be around here somewhere, right? Taiwan goes perhaps a bit too quickly, the shops and restaurants flashing past in a semi-blur. She forces herself to slow down as she hears steps behind her, and stops, trying to slow her breathing and look slightly more dignified.
Leoben manages to stop a few feet behind Taiwan, thankful that he didn't run into her. What a reunion that would have been. He's not out of breath, a little run like barely phased him, but he still hesitates, if only for a moment.
