Sign a petition to include questions about gender and sexuality in the census. If you want, I mean. I signed it but honestly the idea's a little scary in a way? Like, McCarthyism could come back in a very real way. I hope not, but I mean... I'm pretty sure the Jews hoped they wouldn't ever have genocide attempted against them. I don't know. What do

I'm pretty sure the Jews had genocide attempted against them pretty much constantly by somebody or other for the last two millenia; the Germans were just more numerous, organized and capable than your average Russian peasant mob or medieval pogrom. That's the part they didn't see coming.

I have mixed feelings about putting this on the census. Like, I can see where it'd be useful to know how numerous and where sexual minorities are, but I also kind of think, that just reinforces the attempt to categorize people under discrete terms, when it's really a loose continuum. Am I making sense?
