I too was blown away at the support shown in the comments on this article, knowing full well how Daily Mail commenters usually respond to this topic. Even the lowest rated comments are still rated positively and are in themselves very supportive.

It is remarkable. Utterly remarkable.

One would have expected a huge swathe of transphobic comments in addition to the normal Daily Fail spin on such a story. I hope this signals a change in the way trans* folk are portrayed in the tabloids. I'm not, as you might expect, holding my breath.

I raised this article in my tutor group: there are thirty-five soon-to-be teachers who will know what's right if they ever find themselves with a child like this.

The Fail is, in its comments section, fairer than the Grauniad, where politically 'right on' readers seem to feel free to heap hatred on us.

Thank you for such a thoughtful post.

This is brilliant! I'm so surprised to see such a positive article from that newspaper. *^^*

Though I must admit, when I saw the picture of the girl, my first though was...

"Dear GOD - she dresses like a Japanese primary school student! :O" I blame either the cute fluffy skirt and boots combo, or the fact I've been out of the UK for way too long. XD Kids today, eh? X3
