 I am currently annoyed by an artist on DeviantArt who seems to be, well, to put it lightly--not quite as well-rounded as she claims to be.

I understand if you want to do fanart. I understand if you're not particularly good at fanart. Hell, I even understand your need to PHOTOSHOP ACTUAL PIECES OF THE CHARACTERS into your pictures. But c'mon. Own up

I kinda wanna know who this artist is. I rarely use DA anymore because that sort of thing is so rampant on there.

Yeah, I've honestly thought about starting a DA account just to call out people for crap like this...but in the end I worry it will only make me angrier/more bitter than anything.

...but I'm thinking of at least uploading an example of her AWESOMESKILLZ pictures later so people can flip out with me *ponders*

I hear you on this, love. It drives me up a wall, but plagiarism always has. The sad thing is, some people actually believe they deserve that praise.

I knooow. I'm sure this girl deludes herself with the whole "I colored it, see? It's MINE!" idea (which is almost along the lines of "I licked it, now it's mine!") so I dunno. I keep wanting to give her the benefit of the doubt on other parts of the pictures (the clothes, for example, are lovely) but the more I see photoshopped/colored-over stuff (backgrounds, landscapes, etc) the less I believe she has ANY ability at all.

Am I wrong wanting links? I'd like to see who this person is, who isn't giving any of the credit where it is due. >(

Though I must also say that not everyone turns a blind eye to this sort of thing. DA sometimes does (IDK about DA's copyright policies sometimes, seriously) but places like art_theft don't take kindly to not giving credit.

I'm worried about posting links because if someone goes all rogue/attack on her I will go to hell for laughing so hard I might feel responsible.

You could always send sometime to kindly point out that what she is doing isn't really art -- not art she should take sole credit for, anyway. Honestly, she might be able to make better friends if she just owns up to the fact that she's not doing all of this work herself. At leas then she won't be lambasted if someone calls her on it.

She's got so many minions of blind love I don't want to be the jerk who charges in and starts popping their bubbles. So for now, just bitter silence.
