Hahaha XD Yeah, i love Rosiel. Don't know if you're a fan of the dub, but i just met his voice actor! ♥

And yeah... well perhaps sadistic's a better word for it? What manga are you up to? I hear there's more than 30 so i have a while to catch up to really base my opinion.

Well, Zodd is an Apostle, and as a member of the God Hand Griffith is kind of his boss. I dunno, it makes sense to me. (-:

I'd say it's debatable whether the reader is "supposed" to consider Griffith evil, i.e. whether he's evil for the purposes of the narrative by the intention of the mangaka. From a personal standpoint, given his actions I don't think I can consider him anything else. Still a badass character, mind you, but an exceptionally well-written bad guy nonetheless.

I dunno, I just think it's kind of funny how Griffith's whole thing was always to expand his own power as much as possible in order to eventually become King of Midland, and then suddenly he gets granted incredible godlike powers beyond his wildest dreams, and the only thing he can think to use those powers for is... to become King of Midland. You'd think he'd be able to conceive of a grander ambition than the rule of one single country. But then, we don't necessarily know 100% of his plans yet, either... hopefully Miura has something more up his sleeve.

OY, I love #2. That scene was freaking beautiful in the manga, the anime, and the (PS2?) game for that matter. Saving for later use and general prettiness; crediting where credit's due.

It must have been at least three years ago that I watched the anime in its entirety and I've got to tell you, I still remember the emotional impact it had on me. The Eclipse episodes were like a physical shock; for a few minutes after the last set of credits I just sort of sat there, trying to gather my wits.

Now ... hm. I was so obsessed back in the day that I went ahead and downloaded all the scanlations available from the Band of the Hawk circle at the time, so I've read up to Volume 27 at this point. I'm not really sure how much I should say about plotlines; Berserk is one of those stories you just do not ruin for people. Keeping just to the discussion of Griffith's nature - I've always just thought of him as being incredibly selfish. It's easy to justify even the cruelest actions in your own mind by thinking, "Well, it's what I want," and then ( ... )
