So, this letter was submitted to the judge presiding over the Prop 8 trial by the defendants--the folks who think Prop 8 is a swell idea.  They're trying to portray that their defense was all mucked up because their witnesses are Scared of Teh Vicious Gay.  Because we hear ALL the time about gay people bashing straight people.  Uh huh.  Seriously, ( Read more... )

proposition 8, gay marriage, gay rights, prop 8, asshats, equal rights

I'm not familiar with the term "Straight Bashing." Is that new?

And I'm so worried about my own marriage. I'll have to divorce my wife and get gay marriaged. To some strange man I've never met.

In the Gay Catholic Church.

By a Gay Priest.

In an 'off-white' dress.

And it will be a beautiful affair. With gay flowers and everything.

LMAO!

No, as far as I know, "straight bashing" is not a real term. I was just using it ironically as a corollary to "gay bashing."

I find the PDF absolutely hilarious (and spot-on), but blanket term "breeders" never seems to come with a disclaimer that it may not refer to lesbians / gays / bisexuals / genderqueer (and maybe even non-homophobic heterosexual) people who happen to have biological children...

*Sigh* If you have been following the trial, it's a question I've asked myself a lot these last few weeks.

Just WHO are these people who have lost their jobs because of their view over Prop 8 and received death threats for donating to the H8 cause???

Wow, I'd sure like to take a baseball bat to this woman. I'm straight. So it that would surely count as "straight-bashing" right up.

I would like to see some published stats. After all, there are published stats on bashing and murder of gays and lesbians. If this is as serious as they claim, surely there must be something...

In fact at my work, there was OPEN gay-bashing for Prop 8. Petitions and info left out for the workers. It was actually "worried for your job" if you were opposed to Prop 8. Pretty disgusting. Yeah, I work in a very heavy Catholic and Baptist job atmosphere. (In fact I worried because I have an OM and a Ganesh (sp) on my jeep. There have been remarks)

I dunno if it counts as bashing if it isn't physical...does it? I am not sure. But sure as hell was an unsafe work environment on every other level. Blech. That's disgusting.

Wow, that is indeed a story of great pain and strife. My heart goes out to you and the thousands of people affected by straight bashing. ;)

Bonkers. The lot of them. I can't even wrap my head around it, I really truly can't. Usually if I twist, I can try and see things from the other side fairly well...but the mental gymnastics involved here are just too much for me.

It is just the "No, really, WE'RE the victims!" that gets to me.
