Anybody on Dreamwidth?

With the changes going around LJ, I feel it's ... well, getting harder and harder to use. When I can, I'll be trying to import all my LJ stuff over and, uh, I guess get used to the system there! So if you have a Dreamwidth account, please feel free to add me (:

So you're leaving LJ...? But what are these, changes, then? I haven't noticed anything too drastic :o

No, not really leaving, but if things continue the way they are there I might just move. Well, long story short, LJ changed the layout and removed subject lines which can be very important as a heads up to readers on potential triggering content, and despite well over 10,000 users, a fair proportion of them paying for LJ's services, the team is refusing to acknowledge their concerns. And, well, they made a bunch of pointless changes which just makes things slower and leas efficient and I don't understand why they would want to waste their bandwidth and resources this way. Though sure, I am not personally affected, I sympathise with the people who are, and I find the admin team's response isn't in any way mature, and if anything their responses are mocking. You can read about some of the things here.

It just strikes me as an incredibly tasteless move on LJ's part, and ... well, yeah. ):

I'll be floating around there too but I'm mostly going to curl in the corner and rock back and forth hoping that the lj I've grown to love comes back.

;___;

(Also, do you have a link that explains how to import our journals over there? :o)

Haha, I get, I get. At first I was reluctant to change, but I dunno, seeing the way LJ high-ups react to the complaints and concerns of users just leaves a really bad taste, y'know?

Um, well, I lost the link but it pretty much entails you going here and selecting what you want to import. It'll take a while, though, since the queue's pretty dang long -- it was at about 900+ last night when I started, and now it's 1000+ and I'm still waiting to import journal entries and comments.

Yesss, I've been poking around and seeing these posts about why we should move etc. Ah, I can't believe this is happening though.

Thanks very much for the link! And oh god! I don't know what I'm going to do now ;A;

I know, same here! It's all been rather sudden, really. I didn't see myself leaving LJ, but, welp, now that I've read the posts and seen the way things are, might as well.

No worries! It should be quite a simple process if I remember right -- just check the boxes for things you want to import and let it do it's thing. Though until the queue's gotten more manageable, we'll probably have to wait another day or two until it gets to us!
