There was never a day when Jaejoong didn’t see the handsome man at the coffee shop, sipping on his drink, reading the newspaper and working on the crossword puzzle. Every day for a year or so, he came by around nine in the morning, took his usual place by the window with the paper tucked under his arm.
He sat at a proper angle for Jaejoong to stare at every now and then; and Jaejoong would discreetly admire everything there was to admire about this man. He liked caramel coffee, with whipped cream and sometimes he would order a piece of cake or pie by its side.
The sunlight that filtered in through the window made his long brown locks look so soft; he had his hair till his nape and occasionally, Jaejoong noticed, when he would get stuck with the puzzle he would run a hand through his hair, upsetting it for a while before they found their place perfectly back on his head.
He had long fingers, like an artist’s and Jaejoong wondered if he was a painter, or a potter maybe. And thought about his creations and how beautiful they would be to be moulded or sculpted or drawn and painted by him. He thought of how, maybe, he would hold the paintbrush and stroke it across the empty canvas; creating masterpieces time and again.
He had long legs, ones that went on and on and Jaejoong had to make an effort not to stare at them, especially when he wore his skinny jeans that fit so right on him. He could be a model. And his biceps told Jaejoong that he worked out; Jaejoong thought of how he must have held his lovers his those arms and how protected they might have felt, how loved. To be held by this man, this beautiful, beautiful man, to get kissed by those perfectly shaped lips, to stare back into his deep brown eyes and what a feeling it must have been to have him smile affectionately, lovingly, caringly.
His voice was like that of a low rumbling of thunder, deep and base. Like how a clap of thunder promises a shower of rain, his voice sounded promising. True, the only conversation Jaejoong ever shared with him was when he ordered but that alone left Jaejoong craving for more.
It was one rainy afternoon when it happened; Jaejoong was all by himself in the coffee shop; Yoochun had taken a day off and Changmin had run off to visit his parents on the other end of town. The rain lashed outside and Jaejoong felt warm and safe listening to the rhythm of patter against the window. He absentmindedly cleaned the counter as he sang along to the old songs playing from the radio when he heard the wind chimes tinkling; someone had walked into the coffee shop.
Jaejoong looked up and saw him, in all his drenched form. His hair was matted to his forehead, his paper soaking under his arms and his clothes were stuck to his body. He smiled sheepishly at Jaejoong and pulled out his glasses and wiped them on his shirt. Jaejoong smiled;
“Maybe you should use these.” Jaejoong said, handing over a couple of tissues. “They would be a lot more helpful than your shirt.”
He laughed and nodded; “I guess you’re right.”
Jaejoong tried not to blush and looked away; “Would you like your usual?” He asked, fixing the coffee machine.
“Yes, please.” Came the reply. “And something hot to eat.”
“You must really like coffee huh?” Jaejoong asked, pulling out a Styrofoam cup and filling it. “You come here every day, I noticed.”
Jaejoong placed the cup in front on the counter and smiled; “How about a warm cookie?”
“That would be lovely, thank you. And no, I don’t like coffee, not even one bit.”
Jaejoong stared at him, what was this man saying? “But. But you come here every day and you seem to enjoy your coffee so much.”
“I have a confession…” the man blushed; “I am here every day to see you really.”
Jaejoong was sure he hadn’t heard the man properly; “Excuse - me, what?”
“I saw you. At the musical.” He fidgeted with his fingers, looking everywhere but in Jaejoong’s direction. “And I thought you were breath taking. And I had to see you again…”
“Oh.”
“…yeah, and I accidently happened to come into this coffee shop once and there you were, brewing coffee and smiling and I don’t know and I am usually not this forward and I am actually surprising myself by talking like this and I should stop because I am rambling, sorry. I am Yunho, by the way.”
Yunho let out a deep breath and smiled sheepishly at Jaejoong; “I am sorry if I creeped you out.”
Jaejoong sighed, smiled softly; “I’m Jaejoong and I have been noticing you a lot lately.” He chuckled. Yunho’s eyes widened and his smile broadened; “So do you want to, like you know, get to know each other better.”
Jaejoong grinned widely; “I would like that, yes. I would like that a lot.”
“…and also,” Yunho fidgeted; “I like tea more.”
Jaejoong laughed; “I like tea more too. Would you like to get some now?”
“But the shop?”
“I can lock up”
“And it’s raining cats and dogs out there.”
“I have an umbrella. And besides, this is getting to know each other better.”
Yunho remained silent, a smile tugging at his lips and nodded quietly. “Let’s go get some tea for us.”
