You think so?

Not too out of place? [what with the 50's American setting and all]

They certainly stand out, but it is in a good way.

[Taiwan's on her way to come see China, when she happens upon all of these decorations and babby brother sitting out on the front porch staring at the lights. Smiling, she walks over and takes a seat next to him.]

"It looks really nice."

[It takes him a moment or two to snap out of his thoughts, before turning to Taiwan]

Glad you think so.

[Looks up at the lights, smiling a little.]

Yeah...

I've made the cakes to eat under the moon tomorrow night and stuff. [it won't be anything near as spectacular as he usually does back home in his house, but still, that's not the point here]

[you are no longer alone on your porch. it's not like he was drawn over by the smell of moon cakes and got distracted by the lights...]

That time of year already? It's too easy to lose track of time here, even more than it was back home.

[hi charles hi

how did he guess you'd be ambling by like the creepy little cake scavenging thing that you are

he nods in agreement]

Yeah.

Here. I made you these. [hands you a blue chinese lantern (SO IT DOESN'T CLASH WITH THE ROSES DURHUR) AND your very own supa speshul mooncake. this one has a rose image embossed into the top.]

[feels the specialest. he takes them both, making sure to hold the lantern with extra care. it's nice to have something familiar, even if it was rare to find him actually celebrating Tết Trung Thu.]

Thank you. [look i can do manners without sarcasm, aren't you proud.] Even if it's a bit strange celebrating in a place like this.

[so proud.]

Yeah. I admit they kind of stand out a bit. [gesturing to the dragon lantern as well as the regular ones.]

Are you going to do the moon viewing thing tomorrow night?

The design is very cute, heya.

[wistful sigh......this alone is a sign that his guard has dropped somewhat since his arrival, judging it now all right to indulge in some of his usual silliness]

It's Hello Kitty. [resists the urge to say "herro kitty"]

...You're kind of a fan of it in the future. [understatement]

What's the occasion?

[WESTERNERS KNOW NOTHING.]

It's the Moon Festival tomorrow night. Or Mid-Autumn Festival.

[holds up a non-hello kitty one]

Try one.
