Geek Chic: Initial thoughts, Wuv Twue Wuv and Daisy

I got my Geek Chic Cosmetics package today! A while back I wrote about preliminary breakdown and expectations for each scent they had up, which I had purchased. I'm starting to test them now, although I think I will do only two a night.

Just to note, their perfume are solid, wax-based ones. No alcohol, so as with perfume oils, I assume that skin chemistry plays a part when wearing these solid scents. This is only the second time I am using solid perfume, so I'm nowhere near an expert on them, but my perception, of course, is based on my first experience with solid perfume from Tokyo Milk--probably not a very fair comparison. But to go on--

The packaging is cute, and definitely easy to carry around and apply. When I opened my first one, I was a bit shocked as the top seemed pure wax! I wondered if I had accidentally pushed the wax out or something...but no, apparently, the top portion is just transparent plastic.

The consistency is rather soft, almost buttery. Granted, Singapore is a warm country, but given that I (and these solid perfumes on my desk) have been sitting in an air-conditioned room for a good chunk of the night, this might be the "normal" consistency. This is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on what you're after. It's also partly the reason why I'm only testing two a night--when I swipe some on my skin lightly, usually that first press will leave a small "ridge" of solid perfume on my skin, which I spread out with a finger, and covers about half the back of my hand.

So now on to the two scents I tried tonight:

Wuv, Twue Wuv

This scent evokes visions of springtime and the summer love that follows. Freesias, frangipanis and plumerias sprout from under raspberry roots, breathing the citrus-laden air of melons, cherries, apples and pears.

Expected: I would have been iffy about this being very floral, but I think I'm more concerned with the melons and cherries making this too fruity for my wearing. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if it's a bit too "storybook love" with the flowers and fruits, making this a bit too sweet and fruity floral for my tastes.

Actual: I'm getting melons and a berry scent--it's a toss-up between cherry or raspberry, but more on the cherry side. The florals are soft, but still retaining an almost-tropical vibrancy and "color", with a dash of spice. I'm not positive I can identify the flower notes, but I'm getting a hint of soft spice. It's slightly soapy on me, and sweet--spring and summer sounds about right. On me, it's a soapy-sweet melon/cherry scent with vague floral overtones.

Daisy

A sweet bouquet of frangipani plumeria, freesias, and a cache of other tropical flowers mellowed with soft musks, a smattering of raspberries, melons, and citrus with just a touch of sweet almonds. Tropical without being "punch"-y, floral without being "flowery". A very cheery, delicate, and feminine scent.

Expected: It will be interesting to see how this differs from Wuv Twue Wuv (man, that title is difficult to type). They share a lot of similar notes, but tropical without being punch-y and floral without being overwhelming--yes, please.

Actual: This is like Wuv, Twue Wuv but in reverse, and with almonds, and not as sweet. This is a more floral scent, with vague fruit notes, and a hint of almond. It's also soapy, but that spiciness that was in the former isn't here. This is a "cleaner" scent than WTW, more grown up, and something I might wear--except for the soapiness.
