This one is mind-bogglingly easy. As I've said before, there aren't really any HP characters I dislike, but when it comes to the girls there's only one possible choice for me.
You've probably heard me mention my role models on here before. Since the beginning, I have tried to emulate women like Dana Scully, Keladry of Mindelan, Eowyn (my love, omg), and various others. You might notice a pattern there, lol. I love strong, intelligent, competent, compassionate women. There are a bunch of those in HP, but I bet you can guess which one I'm talking about.

Hermione Granger is everything I've ever wanted to be. I found her before I found Scully or Eowyn or Kel. She was, I guess you could say, the trendsetter. From the very first book, she has been my favourite character, not only of the girls, but out of all of the characters in the HP universe.
She's brilliant. Hermione is so, so smart, but its not just book-smart. She works hard and she can apply her knowledge to problems in order to find a solution. She loves reading and she loves logic. She inspired me to rk hard in order to get good grades, to read everything I can get my hands on. She taught me that being a know-it-all isn't a bad thing, because knowledge is power. When you think about it, Harry and Ron wouldn't have gotten very far on their adventures if Hermione hadn't been there. She worked out the Devil's Snare trick and the poison puzzle, she discovered the Basilisk and worked out where it was coming from, she helped train Harry in useful spells for the Triwizard Tournament. Hermione could do all these things because she paid attention in class and because of all the books she read.
I'd say, like Harry, (and this whole paragraph is pretty much me interpreting the things she's done in the books in a stream-of-conscious wall of text, so enter at your own risk) she has a clear idea of Good and Bad, but she isn't restricted as much by Right vs Wrong. Furthermore, she'll go against the moral idea of Right for petty issues if she feels so justified, like when she Confunded McLaggen to help Ron win the spot of keeper. This sense of justification in doing what she wants because she's Good is one of the flaws she suffers, and I think it's interesting because she didn't do this in Philosopher's Stone. It's a bad habit that developped over time and was never really called out. Think about it: in the third book, she Stuns Snape, which is forgivable considering he's a jerk. In the fourth and fifth books, she blackmails Rita Skeeter instead of handing her over to the authorities, which is forgivable because she's a jerk. In the sixth book, she Confounds a fellow student over a crush and an insult to said crush's family, which is forgivable because he's a jerk? She's always able to justify these actions to herself and others, but the actions just become more and more petty. I think it's fascinating that a student with so much integrity could be so callous in other areas.
I love how much she cares about 'her boys'. Even though she's canonically in love with Ron, she cares for and worries about Harry just as deeply. I'm not just saying this because they're my ot3 i swear. There's not much I can say here because the evidence is in every single one of the books, and everyone knows it.
I love that she'll stand up for herself and her friends. She worked so hard to help Hagrid save Buckbeak, and she defended Hagrid against those who insulted him, even though she didn't think he was a very good teacher. She made sure Harry was safe from possible hexes from the Firebolt, even knowing that he would be furious with her. She never let Malfoy's insults get to her. I think that kind of confidence and friendship is amazing.
I'm running out of steam a little here, because it's really impossible to capture Hermione in one little journal post. Harry was easier to write about because it's his perspection we're reading from, imo, so we know more about his thought process, and because he's the title character so he is the reader's focus. Still, if it came down to a question of who I love and admire more out of Harry and Hermione, the answer would always, always be Hermione. She's smart, she's a good friend, she's occasionally morally grey, and she gets shit done. I don't think any character will ever have as much impact on how I want to live my life as Hermione has.

as a side note, I think Emma Watson has been amazing as Hermione. She captured the strength, the intensity, the vulnerability, and the love perfectly. I can't think of anyone who could have done a better job ♥
