Day fourteen: What you think makes the Harry Potter series so amazing
One of the best things about the HP series is that every character is relateable in one way or another (except maybe Grawp, lol.) Either you relate to them because of their personalities, their problems, or the decisions they have to make, and it makes the stakes feel even higher and the plot feel more intense. So, naturally, this is a pretty difficult choice. 'The character I relate to the most'.
Now, I hate repeating an answer, but I honestly relate to Hermione the most. Hermione seems to really understand people's emotions and motivations, but she has difficulty responding appropriately (see her reaction to hearing that Lavender's -- or maybe Parvati's, idk -- rabbit had died in PoA). I can be like that a lot, unfortunately; I'm sympathetic but I react in entirely the wrong way, and thus the social awkwardness irl. She's also very isolated because of her intelligence, I find, and often called know-it-all and whatnot. I think people find girls with good grades intimidating, tbh. I would never claim to be as smart as Hermione (IN MY DREAMS, TBQH), but I test well and I get decent grades, and that does lead to a kind of isolation, i find.
On the positive side, because that's all kind of sad, Hermione loves her friends a lot, and would follow them almost anywhere. I'm the same with my irl friends, and with you guys ♥ to a lesser extent. Pardon my melodrama, but I'd probably take a bullet for my best friend. She's also very stubborn about her opinions, and that's me in a nutshell, lol. The word muleheaded is thrown around a lot these days, but it's pretty freaking apt :)
Hermione is also, as we discussed, very willing to put her morals to the side if it benefits her personally, and I can be the same sometimes. I'm just as much of a hypocrite as the next guy, I guess, because while I may admonish someone for something, I might do the same myself. I can be very 'ends justify the means' sometimes.
On a shallow note, my hair can be pretty fucking wacky and bushy at times, so... there's that.
As to other characters I can relate to, I'm clumsy like Neville, I have a short temper like Harry, I can be deliberately obtuse like Ron, and I have a hat like McGonagall's.
