Day fourteen: What you think makes the Harry Potter series so amazing
Well, I've been informed Harry/Luna isn't a canon ship because Slughorn's party wasn't intended as a date. And apparently Dumbledore/Grindelwald isn't really canon either. Shit. Oh well. You know, when you think about it, there hasn't been a lot of romance in the HP series. There was, like, Hermione/Krum, Cho/Cedric, Ginny/Dean, Harry/Cho, Ron/Lavender, Ron/Hermione, and Harry/Ginny. For seven ginormous books, that's pretty low. I've always loved how the focus is more on the friendships than the romances of Harry Potter.
For Favourite Canon Ship, I'm going to go with Harry/Ginny. For all that the monster in Harry's chest was extremely ridiculous, they were a pretty cute pairing. I like both of the characters. You've heard me go on about Harry, ofc, but Ginny is pretty awesome, too; she's sporty, tough, and cheerful. She generally seems to have a good attitude and she really does like Harry. I thought they were well-suited, because they can both be very intense at times, but Ginny brought a nice calm into Harry's life for a while. I think it's important that whoever Harry is with be aware of and ready to deal with his 'saving people thing', because frankly I don't see that as something that's going away any time soon, and I liked how Ginny handled it at the end of HBP. She accepted his choice and they both got on with their lives, no hard feelings, and I think the way she dealt with him deciding to leave and ditch her is probably part of the reason they were able to get back together afterwards.
So yeah. Bear in mind that I'm talking about book!Ginny and not the movie one. For the most part I take the movie characterizations as canon, because they've been flawless, but as stated before Bonnie Wright's Ginny doesn't seem very similar to her book counterpart at all.
seriously tho if Harry/Luna were canon I would have had a hell of a lot more to say. Or Neville/Luna.
