Since you're not a racist bitch, that flag doesn't mean those things to you. But, many people in the South are still racist and it does mean more to them than "a romantic image of a chivalric, honor-based culture that was driven down by the brute force of crass Yankee capitalism" or "a proud military heritage," because some people are still very much racist and do not see people are being treated equal. If the state of Georgia did not just have their first interracial prom in 2002 I could see where you are coming from, but the truth is that many of those people still hold those beliefs.
