I hate buying clothes for this reason. I just want plain, simple clothes - but can you get that sort of thing for love or for money?

I buy a lot of my clothes from the mens department simply because they are more likely to stock clothes that cover all parts of the body without the use of safety pins, and also because they are more likely to stock clothes that don't evolve into completely different items (and a lot less flattering) the first time you wash them.

I think you're onto something. Another problem is that if I try something on, I almost never buy it just because nobody looks good in fitting room lighting. I'm much better off returning things that don't fit, because once I have something I usually don't mind it.
