I don't even have words here - I'm not shocked that people are so disgusting as to abandon a pet AND have slovenly use its carrier as an ashtray... I'm just completely offended.

Dropping their cat off is indefensible, but..

My guess is that the cat carrier was being stored in the garage, where Dad smokes/drinks beer/jerks off.
