she's amazing, my sis. that was her way of putting it. . .said of her little girl that she "can't wait for us to get to know each other." i'll be hanging by the telephone's cradle tonight until it rings. i do wish i could be there. it's as if something were happening to ME and the part of me that should witness it is blindfolded. i can feel it though! if i close my eyes right and relax, i can almost make it out. will have one hell of an accumulated embrace ready when i fly into Atlanta on the 6th. i have one for you too, doch doch i assure thee. should make it to jackson by the 15th. shall we meet over mint tea and baked tofu on some benevolent curb?
yes! will you be available for consultation, or is GC touring then? i want to make one of those shows, so i can remind y'all what it means to boogie. i owe you another try at a phone call. i've missed you at least five times too often, and it would be a shame not to get an earful of your voice processed by thousands of miles of background noise - all Kid A-ish and floating like crazy love fishes.
we will be back from the tour on july 17th...we will be in jackson (maybe) the 15th and baton rouge on the 16th.
i am really hard to track down, but don't think that my heart doesn't swim when i get that gnarled voice wafting across waters in my ear. thanks for thinking of me. i guess i will just see you in july.
hey brad! oh i do hope everything goes well! i can't wait to hear the update :o) missed you in literature, but knew you were doing something so much more important! bis bald dann.

Gonna go pick up some good stoogies for us tomorrow...
We'll both be meeting our nieces for the first time when we get home...
Yours truly,

Birth Day
by Elise Paschen
Armored in red, her voice commands
every corner. Bells gong on squares,
in steeples, answering the prayers.
Bright tulips crown the boulevards.
Pulled from the womb she imitates
that mythic kick from some god's head.
She roars, and we are conquered.
Her legs, set free, combat the air.
Naked warrior: she is our own.
Entire empires are overthrown.
Before the World Intruded
Michele Rosenthal
Return me to those infant years,
before I woke from sleep,
when ideas were oceans crashing,
my dreams blank shores of sand.
Transport me fast to who I was
when breath was fresh as sight,
my new parts - unfragmented -
shielded faith from unkind light.
Draw for me a figure whole, so different
from who I am. Show me now
this picture: who I was
when I began.
