Mean Girl

On two of the stupidest things I heard this week. I think I'm licensed to have a few people make an insult of themselves as I'm turning 19 in a day, and thus is licensed to self-superiority. Haha, joking, joking! But the ridiculousness of these situations speaks for itself. ´Ω`♪

Britpop defined itself by it's locality, and by being not-American. To a certain degree, their sound and attitude was defined by being un-American (which, at that period, was churning out grunge music). While I don't know much about Kpop, Jpop and Cpop, I have read some on Britpop, and it seemed a very localized genre, accepting of british influences and rejecting most non-british ones.

Hell, just look at the headline of this magazine:

Aye, different regions define themselves by their locality at some degree; From what I know of Kpop, they want to define themselves as separate entities from the Japanese entertainment market (and not too surprising, considering the history of Japanese economic exploitation in Korea). Conversely, a lot of Kpop superstars want to take over the Asian market, and for that they learn Japanese, Mandarin, English. Hahaa, I have yet to unravel that seeming paradox of the industry, but I imagine that external cultural influences may be outsourced, but it only provides a sketch for which the local culture colours.

Oooh, Britpop, I'd love to be hooked up to the genre; And I love the headline example by the way. Feel free to introduce some bands to me after I get over my no-English-lyrics-please phase! xD

Hehee, I use "prevailing winds" as a cuss word, due to this. People can't help but look at me in bewilderment. :B

Maybe my urban geography lecture hall is the site of student idioticy or something, because last week:

ME: I got 42 out of 60 on the midterm. That's --
FRIEND A: I can't do math, what's the percentage?
ME: That's under 80, no, over 80, is it?
FRIEND B: Whaddiya get?
ME: 42 out of 60, I can't do math.
FRIEND B: That's 70% on the dot.
ME: ...Point. Easy division from grade school.
New curse word: Forty-two-sixty! Forty-two-sixty! I so fail at life. D:

although a extremely late one, I feel the need to wish you one anyway.

and now comes the increasingly frustrating and incredibly addictive puzzle to figure out who this stranger who happened to stumble upon your LJ is... or, just do what I do.. don't give a bloody damn. :)

I wish I could throw my 2 cents into this debate about music, except I know nothing of it. I suppose in our ignorance, it's easy to see a region as a whole and that to me is quite acceptable. After all, the 60 odd years each of us have in this world, do we really all have the time to be a know-it-all? ;)

Ciaoness!

well, I do have to leave behind clueS. or else you'd think it's just another stalker. ;), not that I'm saying I'm not a potential stalker, when I do have your timetable in my laptop. hehe

so... are you doing friends-only posts? or just too lazy to post much lately?

Heheee, I only hope that I gain your schedule in return eventually, out of the goodness of your innocent heart.

I have some friends-only post, but not that many (about 25%?) and none recent. Being too lazy to update is part of it, but I am also thinking of transferring all my evil deeds onto a Drupal or Wordpress blog. It's more autonomous because I get much more control on the administrative and installation end of the software.
