Title: The First Tale of the True Goddess's Reincarnation
Rating: PG-15
Summary: Strange dreams. Demons roaming the streets. Police blockades being set up without warning. And a looming threat on the horizon...
Note: Cherri is bored, and feels like novelizing the first SMT game. Chapter one has a really odd format that Cherri swears to never use gain, because it is difficult to write.
Note 2: Some small things have been added, mainly to flesh out the story. Mostly just descriptions and actions. Text has not been altered... yet.

Blood red floor and ceiling, snow white walls. Blending and warping together, direction skewed and twisted, halls to the left and right nearly hidden by the ever shifting distortions.

Lost in the halls, advancing aimlessly until a strange dark wall with a raised face that flickers in an out and etched symbols appears in the blink of an eye.

“Who dares attempt to pass this place!” it challenges. “He who does not state his name shall not pass! Identify thyself!”

Awareness, and confusion. A name hangs in a mind, but is unwilling to be spoken. A few moments of silence pass, than three hesitant syllables fill the air.

“Kazuya.”

“Thou sayest that thou art Kazuya?” A nod, and the strange face continues to speak. “The one named Kazuya has dormant power.”

An odd sense of something contained for a long while finally being released. Stamina, speed, strength, and intelligence all growing stronger. Apprehension for a moment, then acceptance, as a feeling of content washes over.

“Kazuya… Beyond this door, both those chosen by God that follow the path of Law and Order, and those that rely on their own power that follow the path of competition and Chaos await you.

“Take care not to tip the balance between the two as you proceed…”

The strange wall and its strange face fade, revealing a doorway. Through that another, then more of the strange wavering halls. An empty cross is come upon, and then a ghostly, washed out form is suddenly tied to it, a second form dressed in heavy blue robes on the floor beside it, face hidden by the heavy shadows its hood casts.

“This soul has been offered to God,” the robed figure says, lifting its hand. A wave of gray fingers and the crucified form is freed, falling limply to the floor. “If you call his name, he shall awaken. Please call his name.”

A moment of hesitation, then two soft sounds. “Yuji.” The prone form seems to respond, but perhaps not.

“You called him Yuji?” the robed figure questions. The washed out form moves and the robed figure exclaims, “The one named Yuji has dormant power!”

Blinding light fills the hall and when is dissipates the robed figure is gone, leaving just the ghostly figure as it pulls itself from the ground. “Wh…where am I?” Yuji wonders. “I was trying to accomplish something, but I forgot what…”

Yuji lifts his head to look at the one who called his name. “You saved me, didn’t you?” There is no answer, but Yuji is content with the silence. “I sense that if I go with you, I’ll remember what it was I was supposed to do… Please take me with you,” Yuji implores.

A ghostly hand reaches out, resting against Yuji’s cheek, sending a wave of acceptance through the touch. Together the two inconsistent figures continue the aimless walking that the first had started, wandering through the shifting halls.

A hunched creature is come across, crouched as it tightens the grip it has on the washed out figure it balances on. Runny eyes set in a decaying face look up as it speaks. “This is the soul of a weak one who seeks power. If you call his name, he should wake up. Go on, call his name!”

“Takeshi.”

The creature lets out a hideous laugh as the form it pins down begins to move. “He may be weak, but he still has a good deal of strength left.” A black light fills the hall, and then it is gone, leaving the form on the floor to stand on its own.

“…Why did you wake me up!?” Takeshi demands, turning away. “And I was having such a good dream… Damn.”

Yuji sighs at the reaction, watching as a pale hand reaches out to rest on Takeshi’s shoulder. Takeshi looks at it for a moment, then snorts. “Oh well, let’s get out of here.”

The now three figures continue to wander the halls before coming to another doorway that leads to a very different room. It is dark, seemingly carved from stone, and in a pond in the center of the room, a beautiful woman bathes.

Her skin isn’t washed out or white, and her tastefully short dark hair glistens as she pours water on it, a soft moan falling from her lips as the liquid cascades down her back and over the top of her full breasts. As she reaches to do it again she freezes.

“Who’s there?” she asks, turning toward the entrance. Her dark gaze falls on the forms and her lush lips curve into a smile. “Ahh… It’s just you, Kazuya…”

Sensing the confusion she lets out a mesmerizing laugh and speaks again. “My name is Yuriko.” She slips from the water and begins to approach, water sliding down her naked form as she moves. “I’ve been waiting for you…” Yuriko whispers huskily, arms coming to wrap around a ghostly neck as she presses her bare breasts against an equally ghostly chest. “…as your eternal partner…” Yuriko and the room fade away, replaced with the twisting halls as another voice echoes in the air.

“Kazuya, how long are you going to sleep?” an older woman’s voice demands. “Just because you have today off doesn’t mean you can oversleep! Come on, get up!”
