It sucks that all of the other decent Americans have to suffer everyone else in the world hating them because of the vocal minority who say things like this. That said, America is not the only country harboring ignorant people, and I wish more people would realize that.

This is something I mentioned a few posts below, but I think the reason why America's share of idiots get the most attention is because the country has such huge presence in the world right now, and has been the world's big 'empire' of sorts for the past 60-70 years. And the empire is, in a way, starting to crumble, so people become fascinated by watching that sense of jingoism become self-destructive.

also pardon me for practically writing an essay here. XD

There is definitely focus on America because of its superpower status, but I think most of the time the attention it gets is undeservedly negative.

America has questionable foreign policies for sure, but I hate that it's become a scapegoat for every other country's problems, you know? Like there's massive tension between immigrants and natives in France, but everyone look how bad America is, we're nowhere near as bad as them so let's focus on them. That kind of thing.

I have my own opinions regarding the earthquake (none of them particularly negative toward the people of Japan in any way, but none that I'd feel like posting because I know I'd get flamed for them)...
But this is just retarded. Really? Karma? Fuck. I hate stupid people. I managed to get through reading the first chunk at the top and decided I didn't need to read anymore. Some people just need a kick in the teeth. And to have their reproductive organs removed so they can't create anymore ignorant fucks.

Pretty much this. And I can understand some of your cynicism about your opinions too. I'm mostly worried about making sure people's lives are saved and cared for, but there's a few thoughts I have about the incident that I'm sure I'd get at least a little flack for.

I'm amused that the picture is the one I linked. I dunno, it's like "hey, people actually look at what I put on the internet"
Anyways, I'm just glad the Americans I know aren't huge cocks.

oh yeah, I totally stole it from you actually. x3

Same. If my American friends were like this they would stop being my friends very quickly.

Honestly I hate people like this. I don't really think it has to do with the fact that they are "Americans" however, so much as idiots. There and idiots and racists in every country.

Certainly true, although I think the sad reality is people expect it from certain folks in America at this point because it is the current 'empire' of the world and it is starting to crumble, so people's attention get drawn automatically. I'm certainly guilty of hyper-focusing on people who are dumb too, so I'm not trying to separate myself from my observation here.

Yes, unfortunately it is the truth that everyone looks at the top dog. America is one of the world's superpowers, so I think it's natural that people would focus on it like that. I just think it's also very popular to hate America as well, and while there are a lot of idiots, the fact of the matter is, there are a lot of GOOD things America/it's people do that really gets overlooked. Various charities and relief funds, tons of people helping when they gain nothing from it. Just saying. A country does not = it's idiots.

Agreeing wholeheartedly with this. Thanks for saying it eloquently.
