Not Hokchew! this confusion results because my dad's Hokkien but doesn't speak the dialect, and my mother's side, though Hokchew, speaks Cantonese because everyone spoke that in Chinatown. and I've always known one of them was Hokchew, so i figured it was my dad and my mum

never knew you had one hock chew side. and meh. the difference between hokkien and hock chew is like, the latter is the capital of the former and it's surrounds by what I can tell. Cause a few villages outside the capital of the fujian province, such as kutian, still consider themselves fuchow.
