the impression that i've always had of pachelbel's canon is that there are many different elements and many different movements even going on the same time and somehow it melds together in something that is beautiful

Pachelbel's canon makes use of a lot of arpeggios. And arpeggios are generally very easy-listening and pleasant to hear. :)
