Sometimes I wish I was really rich so I actually could have some say in this world. So rather than working my ass of and making my dream come true, I rather just post about it on here and see if anyone actually is bored enough to read it and see what they think ( Read more... )

Excellent argument... Or perhaps it is just sense...

Nick and I have been tossing around the idea of starting a political group of some kind. Would you be interested?

It depends on the kind of political group it would be.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of group it would be... but I would like it to take a holistic approach to politics. Reasoning for such an approach is to keep the beliefs in harmony... for example Going to war and cutting taxes is not very harmonious, regardless of what anyone believes about the war those two things just add up to debt.

But I suppose direction of the group and everything would be figured out when people are actually meeting. I'll let you know when we have a date and place if you want.

Know what else is funny? England and Spain (2 historically VERY religious countries [Spanish inquisition, anyone?]) have both legalized same-sex marriage. And yet, America, the liberal, forward-thinking country of tremendous freedom and individuality, almost has a seizure and dies choking on the foam coming from her mouth at the mere mention of those sinful, god-hating, child-raping, family-destroying, ho-mo-seck-shuls being able to do more than hide in their closests.

Marriage is a fucked up topic in the United States. One of the major problems is that it is considered a state matter rather than a federal matter, but then at the same time we have a bunch of federal issues such as federal income tax that is effected by marital status.

I'm actually kind of a fan of having the federal government only deal with civil unions. If people want to call it a marriage then let them, but it should come with no benefit from the government that a civil union comes with. This makes it so marriage can stay whatever church goers want it to be, while giving everyone the same rights.
