If this week isn't too loaded for me, I hope to get another tutorial and icon set posted. :)

Thanks for doing this! A two questions. Firstly, how does it occur to you to make icons like this? (does that make sense?) And, what does de-saturating the layer do? At the moment my photoshop is playing up so I haven't actually tried this yet, so maybe I shall annoy you with more questions once I have. :p

I don't really know, actually. I just play around with the layer settings and textures until I find something I like, even if I end up with five layers in the end.

Sometimes I'll start off knowing how I want an icon to look based on excellent icons I've seen in the past, but the final product usually looks completely different.

Desaturating an image makes the image grayscale. I have PS7 and the Desaturate button is located under Image >> Adjustments >> Desaturate or Shft+Ctrl+U. You can also adjust how gray an image is by fiddling with the Saturation button under Image >> Adjustments >> Hue/Saturation or Ctrl+U.

And I don't mind helping at all. :)

Thanks so much-- great tutorial. I found it a little confusing the way you listed your layers, but I managed regardless.
