Batman? Batman you say?!

Well, I was just going to comment on Sean's post on Batman Begins, but I realized that this movie deserved another post of its own, especially from me. I'm sure many of you know my obsession with Batman and the movies which I have seen multiple times, except for Batman and Robin, because let's face it, that movie was awful. Twice was enough for ( Read more... )

I still say they need to make Mystery Men 2, but I'm sure Batman Beyond will tide me over until that (never) happens..

Mystery Men. That movie is pure genius that the masses didn't understand. I mean, you have Ben Stiller as Mr. Furious, Hank Azaria as the spoon-flinging Blue Raja, William H. Macy (a Lutheran!) as The Shoveler ("God gave me a gift. I shovel well. I shovel VERY well!") Janeane Garofolo as The Bowler (whose bowling ball contains the skull of her dead father), that tall guy from Last of the Mohicans as the Sphinx, that dude from Kenan and Kel (it was Kel) as The Invisible Boy, who was only invisible when no one was watching, and Paul Ruebens - yes, PeeWee Herman himself - as The Spleen, whose only weapon was excessive flatulence. And oh yeah, Geoffrey Rush as Casanova Frankenstein, the villian ( ... )

Dare you mock Star Wars how! I'm sorry, but watching Anakin Skywalker screw up (c'mon, breaking up w/ Natalie Portman ...) and become Darth Vader ... So many questions answered. And you can't tell some small guy who, with the wave of his hand, defeats two massive bodyguards with wicked weapons. You tell him "go home" and he'll wave his hand at you. I forgot to breath in that one, for longer than you forgot to breathe in both those movies COMBINED! Don't mess with the Force, you'll end up a machine.

But Underbed Monster, have you even SEEN Batman yet? And if so, lines like "I won't kill you...but I don't have to save you" beat "No no, it's because I'm so in love with you" any day of the week. Lucas has awesome special effects (i.e., Yoda) but flat dialogue ("Anakin...you're breaking my HEART!"), but Batman has sweet effects AND an amazing story, and dialogue ("I never said thank you"..."...And you'll never have to.") Episode 3 is quite good in many spots, I'm just sayin Batman hit a grand slam while Ep 3 hit an inside-the-park home run. Sho nuff. I love you Neuman. I cried when Yoda lost. I don't want to tell him to go home - but he had nothing else going for him. Evil fears the Knight!

And no, I ain't talkin Jedi Knight.
