I have trouble imagining how people can feel they are better off living their lives alone...who do they talk to - do they get bored? How does that work?

*run by hugging!*

I talk to myself when I'm alone. I used to get bored before I owned a house, now I just do chores.

I talk to myself a lot too. :-) It's fun.

I assume you're talking about living without a SO rather than living devoid of a social life. There's a big difference.

In her case she probably means both, since she is stuck in a foreign country. But I think that will change as soon as her wild and crazy old men return.

hun I think you misunderstood her reply, she was talking about my post and a SO is a significant other. Hugs anyway!

People give up or get lazy, letting a bad experience taint their judgement on if something is worth their time or not. Some people enjoy solitude more than others, as well, and just live their lives like that naturally. Even then, it might be other people that they avoid but they are not alone with a cherished pet.

I spend a lot of time pondering such things, instead of living ;)
