I'm writing an app for Justin Warrick from Cyteen by C.J. Cherryh, for TST. Anyone willing to proofread? Please, please comment. &hearts I like him, but he's so damn complicated.
I read it years ago, sorry. If no one else has, I could look at it? The thing is I'm reading Regenesis now, so...er, well I don't know if you know the premise of that book yet, but it might skew my perceptions of his character.
That would be great if you could &hearts I'm almost done with Regenesis too, so that's fine. It has a good deal of useful information, even though I'm actually apping slightly-AU 18-year-old Justin (because that's the only time I could really imagine him spending time on random airships, lol).
Lol, great icon! :D (I could make one of danish, too. Danish: a language that invites other languages in for coffee, notes their vocabulary and then implement them with danish accent. ;) Or alternatively: Danish: a language that travels abroad, notes other languages vocubulary, takes the words home and use them with a danish accent).
Hmm... Polish: a language that occasionally finds itself invaded by the tentacles of other languages, and then commits perverse grammatical acts with them. XDDD
Okay. I read it over, and I think you have the personality down, what I am guessing you might need to work on would be the history part- making it mesh with the TST world and also making it more easily understood by someone who has NOT read any of the series.
For example since this world is steam punk, most of the complicated computer stuff would probably be magical. (I know, we kind of make exception for sparky stuff, but it doesn't come up a lot since we don't have any). And people may not understand terms like 'sensory patch rigs'. Or 'tape-trained'. When you submit your final application you probably don't have to say which parts are AU, because you can be subtly reshaping the whole thing.
Thanks for reading! &hearts I'm glad you think he's okay.
I wasn't sure how much detail I should be giving about all these things, but you're right, a bit more might be good. I though I left it vague enough to make it possible to fit into steampunk, but I should probably try to be more explicit about that. I'll need to think about what kind of magic would be involved...
About the technical terms - do people need to understand them, really? A lot of the backstories for the more 'magical' TST characters (Ilya or Anthy, for instance) involve all kinds of things I don't understand. So can't science be confusing too? ^_^
Well you don't have to follow my advice! I was just trying to be diligent and reply with something besides 'looks fine to me', because I did read it thoroughly and think about it, but I have no idea what mods look for or think of when they read them.
