The return of pretty things!

I do cyclic hobbies. I get really into something, I do it with great abandon for a few months or a year, I buy far too much stuff for it, and then I switch to something else. Programming, scrapbooking, martial arts, photography, Linux system administration, rock-climbing, TST... Well, I hope won't happen with TST... And this week I suddenly felt ( Read more... )

pretty things, hobbies, lacemaking

Interesting. :) I know the problem of getting into new interests, but usually I stick to old ones somewhat.

I hope you get the other finished and find a good jäger thingy. (Or perhaps make you own?)

Yeah, I'm glad to know I do come back to my old interests again. Otherwise I'd just be stuck with a LOT of useless stuff... It is nice to be able to start doing something "new" and already know how. ;)

Oh, that's gorgeous, Nika! I'll see what I can dig up for something quasi-military. You can also go poking through the folder on my Photobucket that I put together for Gen of military uniforms, if that'll be at all helpful.

Is that what the word for it is? If so, that's what I do. I guess I'm just obsessive? Or compulsive? IDK but your lace looks really nice. I kind of wish I could get the crochet bug again, or maybe art, but I haven't had it for awhile. It's mostly been gardening and piano, but I guess that is good because my hands STILL really aren't up to par when it comes to piano.

I'm trying to move away from obsessive by letting myself ignore the hobbies I don't currenly feel like doing and just assuming they'll come back up sometime. It's working so far. Whew.
Then again, some people just do things until they stop being a challenge and then move on. I have to admit I like doing the things I'm good at better than learning new ones. Although there's an annoyingly large number of cool new things out there! lol

Have fun with gardening and piano, then! :)

If you ever end up with a sewing project that requires custom lace, do let me know and I'll see what I can do!
