Movied.

So what gets a post this week? It's a movie, can you guess?

Indy 4? Well, I (almost) enjoyed the shit out of it despite the critics and the crowd. But no.
Ironman? Well, decent start to a franchise but we know that doesn't always work. Though another no.

What tickled my fancy tonight, and perhaps the best $11 spent so far this year?

Sex and the City.

I do not yet fully understand the why or what-fore of it all but I am so relaxed right now. I found a rare feeling of peace that cinema has not offered for some time. Why could have caused this?

Was it the safe, dependable, predictable story-arcs?
Could it have been the slightly forced yet palatable emotional tensions?
Might it be the cushy resolutions?
Maybe it was the familiarity of four, each attractive in their own way, women and their simple yet endlessly discussable conundrums?

Probably none of those; my money was on the pheromones in the theatre.
For the first time in my experience, a cinema full of women.
It was like some kind of single, straight cinephile's holy grail; I'm totally re-assessing making my movie career and will seriously consider chick-flicks, rom-coms and any other lady-orientated rhyming genre (except dick-flicks; I'm not touching those (boom-boom)).

So now I have a totally different perspective on James Cameron. Sure, I still dislike the guy and most of his work, but Titanic? Genius. To make so much money from that piece of rubbish?

Also, on some level, I appreciate the irony that a film and tv series that were so heavily female-centric were written by a dude. Doesn't count that he's gay (I'm assuming he's gay); he still doesn't have a womb or the other relevant lady parts (mangina excepted). Irony, I tells ya!

And Kim Cattrall! Wow, if we had have hooked up after Big Trouble in Little China, I'd still be happy today.

So, I'm looking forwarding to a very relaxing sleep tonight, to be filled with dreams of sexy forty-somethings.

Well, I did warn you.

girls, movie
