I just listened to Guðni Th. Jóhannesson's new year's address for 2024. He's the president of Iceland, of course, and had a lot of good and interesting things to say. But among other things he also announced that he had decided not to stand for election again, so when a new president's elected this summer, it will not be Guðni.
I understand and respect this decision, but at the same time I'm filled with sadness. Guðni was, and still is, a very approachable, friendly, down-to-earth, open, respectful, and modest president. I'm glad he held this office for the last eight years.
Thank you, Guðni.
