When I was 3 my family bought an RV and went on a cross-country trip. This was in 1988 or thereabouts, so I don't know if this still happens, but, when the RV got really low on gas, all the electric things in it would turn off. My brother and I would be sitting in our bed (above the driver's seat), watching Heathcliff, and all of a sudden, the TV would just blink out. We'd then hang our little heads down and shout at our mother 'WE NEED GAAAAAAAAAAASSSS!!!' like she wouldn't know.
Anyway, we were in the American Southwest, in the middle of nowhere, driving through the end of a rather intense storm. All of a sudden, the TV blinks off, and I climb down to 'help' my mom look for a gas station. We had just finished the last of our food that morning, so I was also on lookout for a McDonalds or some such. We looked and looked, but there was nothing. Just road, sand, and maybe a cactus.
