Alex has finally had his stitches out, several days after they should have been but dropping by the clinic would have interfered with his busy schedule of running and football and Hayley and school. Moments later, Charlie appeared in the open doorway, one hand on her hip. The swelling had gone down on her ankle, though it was still a little painful to bear weight on, and she'd been in the process of braiding her hair, leaving one side unbraided and falling around her face.

"Hello, baby," she said, with a grin. "You come to keep me company?"

"Yeah," he said with a grin, using his foot to flip the ball up so he could grab it. "And look," he pointed to his forehead and hops on toto her steps so she can see. "All better, sort of."

Charlie leant down, making a big show of inspecting the scar on his forehead.

"Healing nicely. You must have a head just about as hard as a coconut, sugar."

She grinned at him.

"That's totally my secret," he agreed, jumping down again. "How about you?" he asked, glancing at her ankle. "Up for football yet?" He's asked her this repeatedly and is more fussed that her ankle heal well than she play with him. He's hoping she doesn't know this though.
