Alex had tried not to let him bother him at first, he'd try to tell himself it was temporary but the longer it went on the more sure he was of why Hayley was acting like they were just friends again. They played sports, they watched films and she avoided any attempt he made to get close until he took the hint and kept his distance physically

He picked up the reel and examined the label. 'Hard Candy.' "Well there's lots of people aren't there," he said in not the most understanding tone. After a moment though, he looked at her concerned, "have you watched it?"

Was this another reason to avoid him? Except she hadn't not like when Jerry and her other friend had vanished. Just not been entirely there.

"Alright," he said, getting up to stop his film as he thinks of it. He loads the one she's given him and watches it flicker to life. An internet chat room of some sort loads and he watches it for a bit in silence. He hadn't realised that Hayley'd went after the guy she told him about, he'd kind of pictured the sort of chance encounter. "That him?" he asks knowing, of course it is. He sees her point about it being weird to watch someone you know on film. "I don't think i need to see this Hayley," he tells her, "you told me about it."
