too short as you said and the "Katie... I think you’re beautiful." was unexpected, though i'm sure what you meant by him saying was he doesn't care about her hair being blonde.

i especially liked this line though: "It felt like the quiet giggles and glances from her classmates were suffocating her." it's a great line of imagery.
