(#18) Capital - Tradition

It was one of their traditions, to pick cherries in the first week-end of June.

She remembered when she was little and all the family was around the cherry tree, her brothers playing with her, her parents taking pictures. One of those was always in Rob’s wallet; she was 8 years old, wearing cherries as earrings.

But the last few years had been to full and her life had been too hectic to be able to perpetuate this sacred moment.

Until this year.

(#94) When - Baby

Her parents had invited Rob’s family for a few days and they were all reunited around the tree, Rob’s parents and sisters, all her family and one of her aunts with her little 3 year old daughter.

She was looking at one set of cherries when her mother whispered quietly in her ear “He doesn’t like children huh?”

She looked up at her mother who was looking at Rob.

He was holding her cousin in his arm, laughing at the little girl trying to grasp the fruit.

For the first time in her life she could see it as clearly as day. Rob, in a few years in the same spot, a little blonde girl. Their baby girl, helping her pick out the best cherries.

With happy tears in her eyes she smiled at her mom.

(#56) Peace - Found

The last rays of light were peeking out from the branches of the tree. They were lying down under it, making the most of the beautiful day, loving the warm wind brushing against their skins.

Rob placed a sweet kiss on her collarbone; his hands gently caressing her tights, making her soft summer dress rise up.
She was floating away from the real world, away from all their problems.
He was making her feel like her skin was soft and malleable, like she was warm caramel under his fingers.

When he entered her, making her moan softly, her stomach twisted deliciously.

Here, under the cherry tree of her childhood she could finally convene her two identities, the little girl playing on the grass and the woman being loved by the one and only man in her life. She was whole.
