NCIS Picspam & review 8x14 A Man Walk Into a Bar...

Feb 16, 2011 21:35

Please, read this (only important if you really, really wait for these): I won't be able to do the picspam/reviews in time for the months coming. I'm taking my exams this June, and because of bad advices, I have more work to do to be ready. Not even sure I'll manage to get everything, seeing the schools I called can't take interns for now ( Read more... )

ncis, mcnozzo in season 8, picspam: ncis, mcgee/dinozzo, i watch & i note: ncis

I loved it too! And at least they were McAbby anvils and not Tiva ones :) But yeah, I loved the flashbacks and that she ended up being Kate's sister. Would have liked a little more for McGee, but he did get to shine in this ep, they all did. Of course, I adore sentimentality, and this was FULL of it.

And that last phoof? After Vance read the letter and turned the light off? SO FOREBODING. End of season is going to be so intriguing.

And good luck with your new ventures! Even if they're super late, I love your recaps!

I'm very serious when I say that I predict something nasty on the horizon for Vance. Given that we learned his big background event in 'Enemies Foreign/Domestic,' I think the precedent towards something bad happening to him (after what happened to Jenny when we learned both her deal with the Frog and the events of Paris) justifies my concern. I like the dynamic he provides, but there are storm clouds coming in, and I'm not certain he's not holding a lightning rod...

That's exactly how I feel. And I think the storm is going to affect everybody. I love Vance, I will miss him if he goes, but I am beginning to wonder what's up. Like I said, the remainder of the season may be quite gripping :)

Thank you!

Guess we still have some time before those anvils start to bother people :)

Yeah, on the good side they showed how he grow up into this awesome agent :D

I'm really worried for Vance. I like him, I don't want him randomly evil or deadish. Plus, do they really want us to warn up to another new director?

Wow, we had a totally different reaction to this one. I didn't see that coming. I'm glad someone liked it, though!

Cat, I also liked it very much, and said so on my LJ. I just didn't post on your review because after somebody commented that average fans would like it and thinking fans wouldn't, I didn't feel particularly welcome. Also, I couldn't make my case for why I liked it without saying stuff I knew would be spoilery and wanted to respect your dislike for spoilers. :)

Eh, I'm just a sucker for nostalgia. You know these montage you see at the end of the last episode of some show? Where you see the characters from the first seasons to the last, like in the Nanny? I always love them and get misty eyes.

I was so pleased by this episode. One of the things that I've always loved about NCIS is that for the most part, they remember and acknowledge their past, and that things can be left on the side for many episodes, sometimes full seasons before getting another acknowledge or conclusion, so to see how much of an effect Kate has had on the team even five or six years down the line, when a significant chunk of the fandom came into the show well after her death made me so happy ( ... )

Yes! Love, love, love how things come back up, like Binder adding the Claire bit into Borderland last year from S6 or all of Jesse's work in Enemies Domestic to tie up a bunch of loose threads. I always tell people it's a decent show if you just catch an ep or two, but if you watch it regularly, they really reward us with these little bits and pieces that make it much better ( ... )

Like Sara_f_black said, choosing his relationship issue as main problem is kind of saying he had the best development, so maybe it's why they did it.

I was completely taken by surprise by the reveal. I did thought she looked familiar, but I though I knew the actress from somewhere or was reminded of Ally Walker as Sam Waters in Profiler. The characters have the same mannerisms.

I'm another one who really liked it - glad to see some agreement here. I think there was a reason for picking the piece they did for McGee, and I think it's also a nod to how he has, generally, the fewest big issues of any of the Gibblets. It helps that his family is fairly normal, as far as we know - no daddy issues. ;) This is one ep I think will bear rewatching after the season finale ends to see how it seems in light of what comes after it, as it often the case with GaryG eps.

I think GaryG is a distinctive "taste" in writers. He doesn't seem to write episodes that really anger people the way Reed and Chris sometimes do, but people either love them or are very "eh" about them. It's interesting to see.

I like this reason :D

Gary did Faith, didn't he? This one provoked a nice love/hate reaction too. He knows how to pick his themes :)

Good luck with your exams and all the work!!! You'll be missed around here, but I hope we can see you again later.

I love your picspam, as always, and I really like this chapter too.

McGee is the one with less issues next to his coworkers. I think he's emotionally more strong than Tony, Ziva or Gibbs himself. I guess they prefer to point to his great development and only refer to his relationship problems to prove that.

Thank you!! Oh, I'll be back [/Terminator] Can't believe I'll have to wait soooooo long before seeing Michael's episode.

I like this interpretation :D I hope it's what they were aiming for. And after Defiance, maybe it's even going to be an arc?
