Hi guys, I'm trying to make a weapon for a cosplay and have little idea how to go about it. Instead of making a futile attempt to describe it accurately, I'll just throw out these 2 links. 8) ( Read more... )
hmm... -PVC pipe -A wooden dowel, only slightly smaller than the PVC pipe, so it can be fit snugly inside. -Chain -Hot glue/some kind of strong glue -Spray paint -Either wood, or one of those foam block things
Cut the PVC piping into the 3 sections. Cut small peices off the dowel, and screw chain into the pieces. Insert the dowel peices into the ends of the 3 sections and glue, so that they are linked like in picture 2.
If you use the foam, shape cut it out and shape it, and sand it down with sand paper. Glue some kind of paper to the foam so you can paint over it, and not have the texture of the foam showing.
If you use wood, cut out the peices and sand them down with a power sander, then put paint.
To attatch them to the pipes, you could probably just cut off some more peices of dowel, screw them to the end of the blades (this will only work if you use wood), and then insert and secure them the same way you did with the chains
Heard from Joey and Thalia that you're pretty pro with wood working/props. ;o
Btw, using wood for the blade portion is not an option for me as I have no access to a power sander or tools that can cut wood with the necessary precision. This only leaves me with the foam option...any ideas for that?

I have pretty limited experience with props, but I'll do my best
