This was meant to go up yesterday, but sometimes trips to the pub stuff happens. :)

So, my first go at Eleven, who is really fun to write. Spoilers up through 5x07, "Amy's Choice" (but very very minor). Bigger spoilers for "The End of Time" and "Journey's End." In all, Eleven meets Martha. Or Martha meets Eleven. Pick your favorite.

At this point, I'm kind of wondering how much the Grand Moff will rewrite of the canon of the series up until now. But this is a primer candidate for a real explanation!

Great Martha-Eleven meeting! You really nailed him here--so different from Ten, yet still the Doctor. And hey, that is a possible explanation for Martha/Mickey!

Eleven just has a fun speech pattern. It's all fragmentary and make things up as you go and terrible sorts of clumsiness. A lot of the aspects of Ten's personality that are pronounced are just subtle textures here. And it totally makes sense that a crack ate Tom (what a ridiculous sentence that was to type!).

I loved the explanation for Martha's sudden shift in feelings for Tom to Mickey being because of the crack. Ah, these were perfectly in character. And Martha threatening the Doctor with a steak knife - Priceless! Great story. :D

My personal favorite moment is when she looks at Eleven and decides Ten looks more normal than he does. :) And yes, don't mess with Martha, she will cut you!

Tom Milligan really is a sad character. First everyone thinks he got killed by Daleks. Now I'm having cracks eat him...

Yeah, that was a funny moment too.

I actually liked Tom so I'd take cracks over Daleks as his choice of demise. I just wish the crack would take Mickey's beard as well just so it can be erased from my memory.

Brilliant. Pacing, wording, on-spot characterisation and sheer imaginative genius -- like others, I find your explanation for Martha/Mickey very plausible, and the marmite in a glass is an image that will remain with me for a long time -- combine to make an original and extremely enjoyable read. I love that glass part because it is pure clumsy Eleven, but it is also sinister - cracks in a surface can eventually shatter the whole.
