Oh man, I just finished FFX for the second time (since high school...so it has been some time...). But I had entirely forgotten how much of a punch the end to that game packs. Of course, this also inspired comparisons to several other games of the same series.

I always thought that Cloud was inconsistent, because when you've got three voices in your head and memories you can't trust (Tifa, you've got some 'splaining to do), you'd be inconsistent too!

When it came to troubled characters, everyone always calls him emo, but one look at his history, (Zack dying, Aeris dying, Sephiroth fuckery, sector 7, and now in AC, he's got time to "think about it" while he dies of magical aids) and I can't...I'm honestly surprised he's sleeping with Tifa and smiling.

For the record, I love all the complication and inconsistency in Cloud's character because there's so much stuff that has happened to him. I think it is all delightfully fucked up, but I've known some people that just don't really buy it (too bad for them).

I, too, am surprised he can function without going batshit as well as he does, especially in AC. He may be "emo" but not in the hipster sense. The dude has some severe depression issues that are certainly warranted by his past.
